The cooperatives and landscape that supply Example Exports

Our Story

Example Exports was founded by the Example family in 1965 and has run as a family business for 60 years. Three generations, one standard.

60 Years in business

A family exporter with deep roots in Africa

Example Exports was founded by the Example family in Example Town in 1965. The first shipment was a single container of raw cotton, sent on a buyer's handshake. Sixty years later, that buyer's grandchild still orders from us.

Today, three generations of the Example family run the business. The sourcing network has grown from one cooperative to more than forty across the region. The product list has expanded from raw cotton to six commodities: coffee, sesame, cashew, cotton, mung beans and sunflower seeds. The way we do business has not changed.

We know every farmer we buy from. We answer our own emails. Every shipment is someone's livelihood on one end and someone's livelihood on the other. That is how we have kept going for six decades.

What we can supply on every shipment

Three standing certifications plus per-shipment documentation. Tell us your buyer requirement and we will confirm what is available for the current crop.

Example Exports lab certificate of analysis

Lab certificates of analysis

Independent lab COAs on request: moisture, defects, aflatoxin (where relevant), bean count, oil content. Sample reports before order.

Per-shipment paperwork prepared in-house: phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin, packing list, commercial invoice, bill of lading.

Four values, unchanged since 1965

We do business the way the first generation did. Simple, honest, repeatable.

Consistent quality

Every container meets or beats the spec sheet. Lab-tested samples on request for every buyer.

Direct relationships

Family members answer every email. Farmers know us by first name. Buyers reach the owner, not a call centre.

Straight dealing

Honest pricing, upfront documentation, no surprises at port. If there is a problem, we own it.

Long-term thinking

We invest in cooperatives and infrastructure for the next generation, not the next quarter.

60 years in 5 chapters

From one container in 1965 to six commodities shipped to forty countries.

1965

The Example family founds Example Exports in Example Town with a single contract for raw cotton. First shipment goes to a roaster in Europe.

1978

Second generation joins the business. Range expands to raw cashew nuts. Sourcing network reaches eight cooperatives across two regions.

1994

New cleaning and packing facility opens at the port. Sesame seeds added to the catalogue. First exports to Asian markets.

2011

Third generation joins. Investments in lab testing and documentation. Organic-certified cooperatives brought into the cotton and sesame network.

Today

Six commodities, forty-plus cooperatives, buyers in over forty countries. Still run by the Example family, still operating on the same standards set in 1965.
